Take a look out the window next time you’ve fitted a restoration to one of your patients and, if you’re lucky enough to have a car park, you’ll notice the first thing they do is open their car door, get in, and immediately pull down the mirror to have a good look at what’s just been fitted. In their eyes, this crown or bridge or whatever it is, this bit they can see and feel – is what they’ve paid for. This is what drives us to create the best work we can.
In recent times, intraoral scanners have quickly grown in popularity amongst the UK’s dental surgeries; this is a trend we are extremely pleased with as we believe moving dentistry to an almost completely digital workflow is a great thing for everyone.
Having started our own foray into digital working many years ago, we are acutely aware of the steep learning curves and investments that need to be made, but we are here to support you through the transition. For your patients, digital impressions are safer, quicker and more comfortable, but also provide us professionals with increased and better efficiency, accuracy and communication.
For us in the laboratory, digital design and manufacture touches almost every case – including those from traditional impressions – and sits and the centre of what we do.
In-house CAD/CAM milling equipment allows us to provide the latest range of materials, with the quickest turnaround times if need be, all from within our laboratory.
There’s a great deal more to creating a great restoration than just knowing how to operate CAD software, and that is why all of our cases are completed by trained, qualified dental technicians. The designs are then brought to life by our super accurate 5-axis milling machines.
We source the most appropriate materials for your case from the best manufacturers around the world in order to provide an end result that is as good as it can be. If there’s a new milling material on the market, we’ll probably have tried it!
3D printing is the final piece of the puzzle for a complete digital workflow, along with intraoral scanning and milling. Again, all of our prints are completed in-house to ensure consistency, accuracy and quality, but this also allows a wonderful freedom of increasing material choice and type of parts that can be printed.
The beauty of 3D printing is that we can produce shapes that it is not possible or uneconomical to mill; current offerings range from models (including soft tissues) and splints, to temporary restorations and special trays, amongst other things. In short, 3D printing is cool – the complexity and accuracy of what we can print has to be seen to be appreciated.
We can work with any system. No matter the implant in question, we will be able to restore it, and will always use genuine components where we can.
Using our own in-house CAD/CAM facilities as well as those of a select handful of outside milling centres, we can provide the most suitable solution for your patient, be it a single crown or full arch restoration.
We are able to offer a complete range of abutment and material choices, with zirconia, cobalt-chrome, and titanium options, but as ever, communication is key and so feel free to contact us about how best to proceed if there is any uncertainty.
The number of material options and techniques available today is huge (and we offer most of them!). We know this can be a little dizzying, so we may call to discuss the options if we feel there is something better for a particular case. Likewise, you’re welcome to contact us with any questions that you might have.
Combine this with nifty stuff like micro-layering of ceramic and the ability to block dark cores, plus smart digital designs, we think we can achieve results that are as individual as your patients. Creating the perfect smile is probably impossible, but we try to get as close as we can with every case that we do.
We can work from intraoral scans or physical impression molds.
"I have used Ferrers exclusively for all my crown and bridgework, initially as a majority NHS dentist. Now as a majority implant dentist, Ferrers carry out all my crown and bridgework for these cases. I cannot recommend Ferrers highly enough, as the work is of a very high standard. Fits are excellent and occlusion work for complex cases equally of very high standard. Aesthetic work is always precise to my prescribed shades, and again matches the standards I have become accustomed to. One of the standout qualities of the lab is their customer service. Nothing is impossible, they will push the boundaries to get work done in time. The whole team are extremely approachable and reliable. Direct communication and advice is always welcomed by David and Ian is easy and always welcomed. I do not doubt their expertise. I can rely on them to make well informed decisions on prosthetic work with clinical ramifications." Dr Deepam Patel
